Dennis Basso presented his Fall/Winter 2019 Runway Show at Cipriani 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan on February 11. Basso sent a parade of 50 looks down the runway in an homage to his inspiration this season, the New York City Girl.

Elegant, sophisticated, fun, flirty and at times, a bit edgy, Basso’s collection, in rich shades of aubergine, coffee, pink, daffodil, rose gold, and of course, black, included luxurious furs, hand beaded and embellished cocktail and evening dresses and day looks of miniskirts and high-waisted pants. Basso also included several faux furs that were as luxurious as the real thing.

Basso is the master when it comes to craftsmanship and detail and this latest collection didn’t disappoint. And, plaid! Dennis Basso did plaid, but it was unlike any plaid we’d ever seen, a delicious mix of aubergine and pink with matching boots, it took our breath away as did the appearance of supermodel, Carol Alt, who closed the show in a luxurious paper bag-waisted and belted golden ball skirt. Divine!

You can take the girl out of the city, but, oh, what girl, city dweller or not, wouldn’t want to be dressed like this …
