I received product to review but the opinions and situations in the following post are true and my honest opinion that has not been influenced by the receipt of product. And, full disclosure, I also bought some of the product I’ve written about below. And that’s because I use it regularly. When I run out, I purchase it on my own.

The Case of the Stained White Towels by Melody Lesser

Can anyone tell me why I, a makeup loving, clean freak would buy expensive – and oh-so-plush – white towels for my newly-updated bathroom, because I honestly don’t know what I was thinking. The choices were many. There were dozens of colors I could have bought. My bathroom is white. Any color towel would have worked. And yet, and yet, I chose to go with white.

Moisturizer with sunscreen

I knew this was a mistake the first night I used the towels. I prepared for bed as usual, brushed my teeth, took off my makeup with a pre-moistened makeup remover pad, the ones that come in a soft pack, rinsed my face and dried it on my beautiful new and cloud-like towel.

OMG!

I ruined my towel! The simple act of drying my face left a smear of black mascara, eyebrow wax and foundation on that beautiful snowy white field. How could that be? My face was clean. I’d been “washing” my face with those makeup remover pads for years! (Beautyistas will know about the importance of removing makeup before you go to bed. Besides staining your bedding with makeup, sleeping with it on is bad for your skin. “Your skin needs to breathe,” is the mantra.) I guess my skin hadn’t taken a good, deep breath in quite a while.

I should have used RoC Daily Skin Resurfacing Disks – but I’d run out of them and hadn’t had time to replace them. I had a store of those other makeup remover pads and those are what left enough makeup behind to soil my new white towel. I raced out to the drugstore the following morning and purchased a jar of RoC Daily Skin Resurfacing Disks. I’ve written about these before. They are dual-sided cleaning disks infused with a foaming cleanser that removes dirt, oil and makeup. One side cleanses; the other, a more heavily textured side, exfoliates to help diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles. They are genius at removing every trace of makeup and they leave my skin feeling clean and soft. I feel as if my skin is perfectly prepped for my nightly moisturizer. I don’t get the same feeling with those other makeup remover pads – and here’s why perhaps …

I had a dinner party that evening and kind of loaded up on the makeup. (Sometimes it takes a village, people – a village of serums, moisturizers, foundation, blush, concealer, eye shadow, mascara, etc., etc.) When I got home that evening and prepared for bed, I used a RoC Daily Skin Resurfacing Disk. The foaming cleanser is gentle yet effective. It’s safe to use around the delicate eye area – use the untextured side; save the exfoliator for forehead, chin, cheeks and neck – and, it left nothing on my towels. My face was clean, for real.

I learned my lesson. If I want clean, exfoliated skin, I should use RoC Daily Resurfacing Disks and ditch those other makeup remover pads. They simply don’t do the job. My white towels are proof.
