Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year. It comes at the perfect time of year too, long enough after December holiday madness and smack in the middle of February to break up the winter blues with love and romance-themed gifts. What a great way to keep the cold at bay.

Below are my Valentine’s Day picks. Some are gifts I’d like to give while others are ones I’d love to receive. Be creative with my picks. Pair a smashing red or pink nail polish with a gift certificate for a mani/pedi. Tuck a practical lip balm into the pocket of a sexy, silk robe; place some heavenly-scented candles around a tub filled with bubbles to be shared by just the two of you. It’s Valentine’s Day. There are no rules. Well, there’s only one – and that is to remember it!

Valentine’s Day Gifts, From the Practical to the Precious

Valentine's Day

ChopSaver Lip Care may not be the most romantic gift on my list so maybe you want to save it for yourself. Created by professional trumpet player, Dan Gosling, who knows a thing or two about chapped lips, all-natural ChopSaver Lip Care prevents lips from swelling, becoming inflamed and chapping. It’s invaluable during these dry winter months. It’s available at CVS stores nationwide and at CVS.com.

How about a good book? Not necessarily the first thing you’d think of as a Valentine’s Day gift, but The Energies of Love: Invisible Keys to a Fulfilling Partnership, just may help provide the keys to understanding, navigating and maintaining a more loving bond with your partner. Authors David Feinstein, Ph.D and Donna Eden are bestselling relationship, psychology and wellness experts who offer insights on better ways to communicate with your partner, identifying both of your stress styles and how to resolve conflict and many more topics that may help strengthen your relationship. Set the mood with one of Molton Brown’s Three Wick Scented Candles. My favorite? Ylang-Ylang which also has notes of amber and cardamom. It’s just one of several gorgeous scents from which to choose. Check it out by clicking on the photo below:

Valentine's Day
Pleasure Gardenia by Krigler

Perfume is, admittedly, a personal gift, that unless you know someone’s choice of scent is difficult to give. That’s why I love Krigler, who have been in the scent business for more than a century. This venerable fragrance house offers a host of gorgeous scents from the heady to the delicate and lots in between. And, you can buy samples before you make a more serious dollar commitment. One that I love and that I think is perfectly sensuous and romantic for Valentine’s Day is Pleasure Gardenia 79. It’s available in a 1.7 oz. size for $230. or a 3.4 oz size for $330. And for only $17., the company will send you a 2 ml. sample to try. Here’s the link to the Pleasure Gardenia page and while you’re there, check out the site to see their other perfumes, candles and soaps because fragrance is romantic.

Valentine's Day
Love is Enough Necklace from Jolie Jewelry

Love is in the air at Jolie Jewelry, creator of beautiful handmade rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. I am partial to their Love is Enough necklace, and their line bracelets, and, well, everything. Gently priced too, the Infinity Line Bracelet is $19.90 and, I think, will make someone very happy.
