Sheena Sujan: Designer, Model – and a Name to Know

It doesn’t happen often but every once in a while a designer emerges on the scene and, for whatever reason – their design aesthetic, the functionality of their pieces, the impeccable craftsmanship and care they use to create their designs – bowls me over and I want to scream about them to let everyone know of their existence. Luxury accessories designer, Sheena Sujan, who creates graceful and elegant handbags that vie with the world’s most luxurious brands is a new name to know.

Sheena Sujan’s handbags are  made of the finest Italian leathers with the most luxurious finishes and are reminiscent of handbags by Hermes. Every handbag in Sujan’s line is handcrafted and the attention to detail is obvious. Like the most expensive handbags in the world, Sujan’s handbags don’t scream luxury. They whisper it with their sophisticated shapes, fine materials and understated design elements.

(The two-headed tiger, the emblem Sujan has adopted as her logo, is fabled in ancient history as a creature of strength, regal beauty and for being the master of her own destiny, not unlike Sujan herself who is not only an emerging luxury brands designer but a sought after fashion, beauty and fitness model as well.)

I was honored when Sheena Sujan contacted me and offered me a complimentary handbag of my choice. I’ve been carrying my gorgeous Sheena Sujan Brown Barclay Tote for about a week now and I love every aspect of it from the comfortable handle to the generous size to the gorgeous shade of brown that goes with everything in my wardrobe to the beautiful red suede interior that’s such a nice surprise each time I unzip the bag. (The red interior, besides offering a lovely pop of color also keeps the interior bright and easy to access in  any light. Sheena Sujan has made quite a name for herself in the luxury accessories market. And she just recently launched a line of false eyelashes as part of an eponymous beauty line. 

But that’s not all. Sheena Sujan is a Renaissance woman. Born in India and raised in Southern Califormia, Sujan participated in competitive figure skating as a child. She also trained in Indian dance, drawing and acting. While still in high school, from which she graduated with honors at age 16, she took college courses and graduated from UCLA with a BA in History at age 19. Sujan went on to receive her MBA from Northeastern University.

Sheena Sujan’s name is well-regarded in fashion and beauty circles and not only because of her beautiful high-end handbags and accessories. As a fashion, beauty and fitness model, Sujan has worked for many well-known Middle Eastern and Indian designers. Perhaps you’ve seen her gracing the pages of a high fashion magazine?
