Ed. Note: I told Harriet Posnak Lesser, my political junkie of a columnist, who also happens to be my mother and who has won numerous New York Press Association awards for her political coverage, to refrain from covering the subject for EverBeautiful.com. That’s not what we’re about, I said. But, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and I, a political junkie myself thought that for this holiday weekend which is, after all, the original political statement we could all use a primer – and a good laugh – at the political system. So, Happy July 4th  which also happens to be my mother’s birthday. Coincidence? I think not! Enjoy her take on our political system. – Melody Lesser
