My daughter is getting married in a few months and to say that I am busy – with work, with wedding plans, with life – is an understatement. I barely have time to fit showering into my schedule (ok, that’s an exaggeration,) let alone exercise. But, I just signed up for the 2015 Vionic Walkabout Challenge and am excited to have pledged to fit exercise into my daily routine for 30 days. (The goal, of course, is to make exercise part of your daily routine past the 30 day period, but it’s a great start and I’m game.)

Vionic Walkabout

The 2015 Vionic Walkabout Challenge is sponsored by Vionic Shoes in partnership with Dr. Andrew Weill and celebrity trainer Juliet Kaska. It kicks off on February 1, coinciding with Heart Health Month.

So here’s the deal: participants are encouraged to walk 30 minutes for 30 days and, if you can’t start on the 1st, no worries. Start at any time. During the 30 day challenge, you’ll receive encouraging emails with nutrition and fitness tips from Dr. Weill and Juliet Kaska whose clients include Karlie Kloss, Kate Walsh and Pink. Plus, Vionic will be offering weekly prizes, including shoes and gift cards, to participants. One grand prize winner will win a weekend spa retreat to Napa, California!

Are you in? I’ll be writing more about the 2015 Vionic Walkabout Challenge in the coming weeks and I’d love it if you’d join me. I know the weather outside is frightful, but when you can’t walk outside, walk inside. You don’t even need a treadmill. Walking in place or up and down your hallways counts. (Just be sure to check with your doctor to ensure that you are able to start or continue an exercise program.)

  1. Oh no Mel, here I was laughing along and thinking great, I will learn something and it just kept getting worse. Can we now no longer enjoy our favorite holidays? Very painful but probably oh so true- thank you.

  2. Hey Jane! Thank you for your comment. You made me laugh out loud. You must be referring to my post “Sugar, The Good; The Bad and The Ugly.” And, you’re right – the news just keeps getting worse and worse. (I did enjoy writing about this study though – and I learned a lot from researching the post.) Listen, I’ll cut you some slack and say “all things in moderation” but you’re probably not going to get the same courtesy from the study authors. Plus, new evidence shows sugar to be as addictive as any narcotic. I had no idea that it affects our skin in the way the study claims though. (I knew it affected my thighs and butt in a not so good way.) Sigh. Moderation is key. Enjoy your holiday desserts, in moderation, and try to avoid the nasty but deliciously sweet stuff at other times. Miss you. xo, Mel

  3. Ok – I am in with you – need to log on PC & sigh up !!! I am going to get healthier this year!
