There are few things I like better than to be barefoot. The first chance I get, I kick off my shoes and allow my feet to breathe, stretch and be naked. I adore shoes but, honestly, I’d rather look at them than wear them. My narrow, skinny feet with their super high arches hurt when they’re encased in shoes for too long. And now that the colder weather is here and I’ve packed my summer sandals away for the winter, my feet do daily battle with the insides of my sneakers, boots and pumps. My feet lose. Every time. They deserve a little pampering …

DIY Foot Mask

Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Nail Spa, in Hoboken, New Jersey, has the perfect fix for tired, aching feet without taking a trip to the salon. Here is her recipe for a DIY foot mask:

Meals for the Heels Mask

Mix 1 cup of regular oatmeal and 1/2 cup of regular milk into a small pot.

Heat up over the stove, stir until cooked.

Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to thicken the mixture, and then let it cool off a  bit.

Once the mix has reached desired temperature – not too hot! – and thickness, apply to feet.

Leave on for 5 – 10 minutes.

The oatmeal soothes dry, itchy or irritated skin, and the milk acts as an exfoliant to help slough away dry and dead skin cells.

Finish off with pure shea butter as a moisturizer.
