‘Tis Spring – and the Hottest Looks Do Cling …

Leggings, skinny jeans, shorts, fitted dresses – these are the things spring wardrobes are made of.  While the warm weather frees us from the weight of winter woolens, it puts us on display and, sometimes, we want (need!) a little sleight of hand to banish the bumps and bulges that heavy winter clothing masks so well.

The trouble with shape wear is that it’s often uncomfortable or unsightly.  Waist bands roll down; leg openings create unflattering lines and sometimes you feel a little bit like a sausage in a thick and close casing.  Who needs that – especially in spring and summer when comfort is key?

Sculptz Legwear and Shapewear collections are designed with shaping control to smooth and hide bulges.  The collection, which features shorts, sheers, tights, slips, body shapers, camis, bras, and briefs, is precision-sewn with breathable fabrics that move with your body for all day comfort and support.  (That sounds a little like I lifted it directly from their website, doesn’t it?  Let me try again … )

Sculptz Shaper Top Pantyhose
Sculptz Foliage Semi-Sheer Shaper Top Pantyhose, $28

I recently tested a pair of Sculptz Shaping Semi-Sheer pantyhose.  I chose the ones with a pretty and delicate foliage design that would be the perfect counterpoint to my fitted little black dress. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package is the sticker that says “Warning. This product will flatten your tummy, lift your rear and slim your hips and thighs.”  Cute, but come on. I’d heard that before … But with a 17 percent spandex content, I pulled on the Sculptz and hoped for the best.  I expected them to bind but they didn’t.  The waistband, which at about 1 1/2 inches wide is wider than most shapers I’ve tried, didn’t roll down, even though I gave them a good workout, alternately standing, sitting and dancing.  I wore those shapers for hours. They not only elicited a number of compliments because the pattern is so pretty, they were completely comfortable.  Plus, there are no annoying tags to make my delicate skin itch. I may never go bare-legged again – not when there are such pretty and functional shaping tights available.  Sculptz Foliage Semi-Sheer Shaper Top Pantyhose, $28.

Sculpts shorts with shaper top
Sculptz Shorts with Shaper Top, $12.50

Donna Karan, among other designers, showed bicycle shorts as part of her Spring/Summer 2010 collection.  Yup, they’re back. Sculptz Shorts are so cute, it’s a shame that they have to be hidden under clothing.  How great is this orange pair?  If I do adopt the athletic wear trend, I’m rocking these under all.  In the meantime, I’ll wear them under skirts and pants to eliminate jiggle.  Sculptz Shorts with Shaper Top, $12.50 for colors including purple and hot pink; black and nude are currently on sale for $11.

Sculptz Opaque Leggings, $20

In a recent post (http://EverBeautiful.com/?p=1198) I wrote about the fact that leggings are here to stay, at least for a couple of seasons.  I love ankle leggings and capris for their comfort, ease and versatility. Sculptz Leggings and Capris are made of a 70 denier fabric and are opaque enough to be worn as outerwear.  The control top panty slims and smoothes bulges while eliminating VPL (visible panty lines). Plus the smooth, stay-in-place leg band won’t pinch or cause skin-dents. Sculptz Opaque Leggings, available in seven colors, $20.; Capris, $18.

While you’re checking out the products that promise to improve your bottom line, don’t forget the bodyshapers and camis.  View and shop the entire collection online at http://www.sculptz.com.
