Colorblocking, bold prints, metallics, brights and dresses, dresses, dresses – these are a few of the fashion trends you’ll find this season.
I love to add a couple of trendy pieces to my usually “safe” (read that to mean black) wardrobe each season – and this year I’m eyeing anything orange, a tribal-printed maxi dress and a flowing caftan to wear over lean jeans. But I don’t want to spend a fortune on trendy pieces. Trends come and go.
So, with budget and, of course, style, in mind, I found this website: http://www.shopvde.com/products
VDE, or Vanteria di Eleganza, is designed by Reggie Aguiluz and he is something of a wunderkind having been ranked 57 of 100 Emerging Designers in Los Angeles in 2010. He was 21. (Remember his name.) His design aesthetic is one of sexy elegance with an edge. Aguiluz designs for the diva in all of us.
Prices range from $25. for a long sleeve printed top to $45. for a 60s-inspired blue silk kimono dress and $55. for a black and white “bubbled” poncho. As of this writing, the most expensive item for sale was a sequin dress for $65.
The site is a little short on description. For example, the blue kimono dress comes in “one size” but I couldn’t find a size guide to learn exactly what its dimensions are. (They are going to have to work on that.) It’s a bit short on merchandise but I think of it as going to a high end designer boutique where the designer has a very definite point of view and a honed collection. Check it out; the items they do show are cute and so reasonably priced, you won’t have to break any banks to be on trend this season.
