Michelle Obama Bangs!

I’ve rejoined the ranks of the banged after so many years. Oh, it’s not what you think – although I did get your attention, right?

As of yesterday, I am wearing my hair the way I did years ago – long, straight, center part and with a full fringe of bangs! It just looks right at this moment. I usually wear bangs, but sweep them to the side. Yesterday, after being inspired by this latest hair trend, I styled my hair with a center part and full on bangs – and I like it.

I read that bangs can make any woman look years younger. Bangs draw attention to the eyes and hide forehead furrows. (My Botox doctor, noticing my bangs one Fall day as I swept into his office, windblown and disheveled, said,”If you’re going to wear bangs, why bother with Botox?” He’s so honest. But now that I’m rocking this new, um, old look, I may not see him again for quite some time. I’ll miss you Dr. Berdy!)

And I’m not alone in my rediscovered love for fringe.  Wanna know who else bangs?

Michelle Obama. She bangs in a new style she unveiled the other day in time for her birthday celebration and her husband’s upcoming inauguration.

Kerry Washington Bangs!

Kerry Washington caused quite a stir with her new ‘do at the Golden Globes last week. She totally bangs.  Click here for tips from her hair stylist on how to get her Golden Globes bangin’ look.

Kim Kardashian Bangs!

Kim Kardashian. She bangs. (I think hers are clip ins, which is a great option if you don’t want to cut a fringe. Below are a few options for clip in bangs, if you want to try them yourselves. See “Shop the Post.”)

Zooey Deschanel Bangs!

Zooey Deschanel, Kate Middleton and Gabby Douglas all bang. Reese Witherspoon, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson and Olivia Wilde bang or have been banged.

If you decide to bang, attention will be drawn to your eyes, so play them up by wearing a bit more intense makeup than you might normally without bangs. Line your upper lid, sweeping the line out and up and don’t skimp on mascara. Products I like to play up my eyes: Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner Pen (Voted an Allure Best of Beauty Editor’s Choice), Maybelline the Colossal Volum Express Mascara, Estee Lauder More Than Mascara Moisture Binding Formula, Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner Pen.

2 Comments on I Bang (And You Can Too!)

  1. I think I have been banged my entire adult life- LOL tried no bangs for a year- and yuck, in a frenzy I cut my own after seeing pics from son’s Drexel graduation when I grew them out- ohhh it aged me!! I think you do look younger with them {but then I think I look younger when I am wearing makeup also 🙂 }

  2. I’ve always worn bangs too – but not as a full, straight fringe. My hairstylist – who I visit in a week or two – discourages me from wearing bangs at all. But I like them – and have been known to cut my own after having been convinced to go bang-less. Next visit, I might go full fringe. And yes, makeup is good too. But I’m always amazed at how different I look in photos than what I see in the mirror. Or think I see. Sigh.
