A New Survey  Says Women Spend Three Years of Their Lives Shopping

Shopping BagsI know.  I’ll just pause a moment to allow that statistic on the shopping habits of women to sink in … (although, honestly, I thought it might have been even higher.)

Ready to go on?

A survey, compiled by OnePoll and published in the Daily Mail, focused on the general shopping habits of women as opposed to how much time I shop for shoes women shop for their own personal needs. So, the statistic isn’t that crazy when you consider that, as caregivers, women are often responsible for shopping for their man’s underwear, socks and food as well as for everything their children might need.

Here’s the breakdown:  Women make approximately 84 trips to the supermarket each year which accounts for roughly 95 hours.  Ninety trips a year to shop for clothes, accessories, shoes, cosmetics and toiletries equal about 101 hours.  Factor in 51 trips per year to window shop and  we’re looking at three years of shopping in the average woman’s lifetime.  (Frankly, I’m having a little difficulty with the window shopping statistic.  For me, window shopping is incidental as opposed to intentional, but ok.  Maybe I’m not average.)  Neither internet nor home shopping was factored into the survey.  My guess is that, had they been, three years might easily become six.  I’m just saying …
